Entered Writing Competition

Anita submitted her book idea entry to the MasterClass/James Patterson competition! Scary, nerve wracking and exciting all at the same time! The Yin and Yang of life. The submission entry number is 110930, so it seems unlikely to make the first cut of 10 for the next round… These documents were written for this step: Two-sentence hook (why would I, the reader, want to read this book); One-page book summary; Sample Chapter. Regardless, this has been a worthwhile exercise.

Here is The Revolts book hook:
From his birth and abandonment in a forest, Wei Hao faced daunting circumstances – especially since he was covered in fine fur due to a congenital birth defect. The eventual friendship of an unlikely female warrior aids their war against the Chinese empire, with the clashing of sword blades, hand-to-hand combat and sacrifice.

We also got notice today from the Tattered Cover Bookstore that our books arrived in their warehouse and were being processed to get on their shelves in a couple of days!

Writing Class

Anita signed up for James Patterson's online writing class. This class will step through the process of moving from raw book ideas, to book plots, to researching your topics, to writing a one-page book summary and two-sentence book hook. Development of characters is heavily covered in the course and this understanding will help us immensely on future books.

What is Anita writing you ask? A novel about monks, nuns, Grandmasters and epic battles, that she started over 10 years ago. Its plot is also related to China's Sacred Mountains and our martial arts lineage, as it turns out!

In addition, MasterClass is running a competition to compete, with the ultimate prize to become a co-author of James Patterson on a future book. Anita was not going to pursue this….

Then Dennis found out about the competition and triple dog dared Anita to submit an entry. The deadline for submissions is in the near future (3/22/16), so book writing and class taking will be Anita's future for the next few days!
